Gwangju, October 19, 2024 — MUTA Band Master, an AI-powered music experience system introduced by the Gwangju Office of Education, attracted attention at the 2024 Gwangju Math & Science Festival. Held at the Gwangju National Science Museum on October 19–20, the festival gave students a new way to experience music and technology together.
Band Master combines AI with rhythm-action gameplay. Students play drums, piano and other instruments in real time by following rhythms displayed on a large screen. Up to three students can participate together and perform with AI instruments, making music more accessible even to beginners.
Students received immediate feedback as they followed the on-screen notes, enjoying the experience like a game while gaining a sense of musical accomplishment. Playing in real time with AI also gave them opportunities to develop creativity and a sense of rhythm.
“MUTA Band Master is designed to help students play music with AI and express their creativity without needing extensive instrumental knowledge,” said So Seong-su, head of business development. “Seeing so many students enjoying the system at the festival showed how AI can lower the barrier to music education.”
As one of the experiential learning solutions introduced by the Gwangju Office of Education, Band Master enabled students to combine technology and art in an accessible, engaging setting. The festival offered an opportunity to explore the potential of AI-based educational tools and future approaches to learning.
