Visited Melbourne October 5–8 to discuss long-term partnerships with key institutions and companies including ACMI, VicScreen, Big Ant Studios and Fortress Explored AI game experiences for seniors and Korea–Australia joi

AI infrastructure company Emotionwave visited Melbourne, Australia from October 5 to 8, 2026, as part of a Korean delegation invited by the City of Melbourne, taking part in GCAP 2026 (Games Connect Asia Pacific) and a program of exchanges with the local games industry.

The visit aimed to deepen understanding of the games industry ecosystem in Melbourne and the State of Victoria, and to explore opportunities for long-term collaboration between Korea and Australia in game technology and artificial intelligence.

Meetings with Melbourne's key games institutions

During the visit, Emotionwave met with representatives from leading institutions and companies, including ACMI, the City of Melbourne, Victoria's screen industry agency VicScreen, game developer Big Ant Studios, and gaming and esports venue Fortress. Discussions covered Australia's indie game ecosystem, AI-driven game technology, interactive entertainment, and opportunities for collaboration in global markets.

The company also heard firsthand about the technical needs and global market conditions facing local developers and industry stakeholders, and reviewed a range of potential partnerships aimed at advancing AI-enabled game development and creating new user experiences.

Growing demand for AI infrastructure in games

The global games industry is seeing rising demand for new technologies such as AI-powered content creation, intelligent game systems, and real-time interaction. As a result, the AI computing environments and infrastructure that support game development and live service operations are becoming increasingly important.

Responding to this shift, Emotionwave plans to build on its AI infrastructure technology and its experience in games and entertainment to develop new collaboration models with Australian game developers and industry partners.

AI game experiences for seniors with Ardacious

A highlight of the visit was a detailed discussion with Dr. Ralf Muhlberger, Co-Founder and CEO of Australian company Ardacious Pty Ltd, on the direction of joint research and development for AI-based game experiences and interactive technologies designed for older adults.

The two sides explored how AI and game technology could expand digital participation among seniors and deliver more accessible, meaningful interactive experiences. They also exchanged views on developing related research and service development into a long-term Korea–Australia joint R&D partnership.

Next steps

Through its participation in GCAP 2026, Emotionwave broadened its collaboration network with key institutions and companies in Australia's games industry and confirmed the potential for its AI infrastructure technology to be applied across diverse game development and service environments.

Going forward, the company plans to firm up technology partnerships and joint R&D opportunities through continued exchanges with Australian game developers and related institutions, while steadily expanding the use of its AI infrastructure technology in the global games industry and beyond.

Emotionwave expressed its sincere gratitude to the City of Melbourne, the KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency) Australia Business Center, Victorian games industry representatives, and all local partners who supported and joined the visit.
