A unique 'Korean Traditional Music Mechatronics' concert, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) creates and performs Korean traditional music, has drawn attention with its first stage performance by an art group located in Siheung. The technical name is RIMA (Robot Instrument Music for All).
The group that named it, 'Emotionwave Arts,' interprets this not as a musical genre but as a technological field containing technical meaning.
It is an artificial musical technology where AI creates rhythms based on the injection of various songs, and then a performance robot automatically performs them.
The work for this concert is known to be the result of obtaining Korean traditional music rhythms from AI after injecting various Arirang songs from all over the country, such as Jeongseon and Miryang.
A group official introduced the song's characteristics by saying, "As a result of injecting many and diverse Arirang songs, the AI provided a creative rhythm closest to Gyeonggi (Siheung) Arirang."
This movement in the art world led by the group is interpreted as an effort to expand existing fields, such as applying artificial intelligence to the music domain.
The performance piece to be presented by RIMA is being first revealed through the Siheung City YouTube channel as a selected work from the Siheung City Culture and Arts Group Activity Support Contest. It is scheduled to move to the central stage on the 16th, where it will also be featured on Korean Traditional Music TV, raising interest in its success.
Park Seong-hyun, Chief Producer Director, predicted, "The era of coexistence between existing composition and artificial intelligence has arrived even in the music domain."
