[Digital Times] Emotionwave signs MOU to build 'AI World Taekwondo Poomsae Competition Platform'... "Application of Multimodal Generative AI Technology"

Emotionwave, an artificial intelligence (AI) specialized company, announced that it signed an MOU with Beijing Yayang Huachang Sports Development Co., Ltd. to build an 'AI World Taekwondo Poomsae Competition Platform' worth 3 million dollars (approximately 4 billion won).
This agreement is for the development and operation of 'TCON,' an online taekwondo competition platform that utilizes video recognition artificial intelligence technology to analyze and evaluate taekwondo poomsae postures. Specifically, they plan to develop a multimodal motion evaluation AI using large language models (LLMs) by 2024 and apply it as a motion evaluation AI assistant in the competition platform. Through this, the same system will be applied to various associations, dojangs, and schools.
TCON provides personalized evaluations for trainees participating in taekwondo poomsae competitions worldwide, including China, and offers new experiences through linkage with the MUTA platform. Through linking with Emotionwave's MUTA platform, taekwondo trainees can receive real-time poomsae evaluations and gain opportunities to improve their skills with experts.
Participating organizations include the Korea Elementary School Taekwondo Federation, Yongin University Department of Taekwondo, Gyeonggi Provincial Taekwondo Association, Korean Sport Science Association, World Disabled Taekwondo Federation, Korea National Sport University, and Korean American Taekwondo Association. They plan to expand services to 150 million taekwondo trainees worldwide, and it is expected that onlineizing taekwondo competitions in China will attract high participation with a new type of poomsae evaluation system.
An official from Emotionwave E-sports team said, "We have established a strong global partnership ahead of the AI-based World Taekwondo Poomsae Competition," adding that they "will do their best to advance and stably operate the movement evaluation and competition platform applying AI technology."
