Emotionwavesuccessfully launched 'RIMA XR Concert' at 'Future Show 2020,' utilizing the industry's first AI concert service, Rima Public, which was unveiled on June 19, 2020, thereby accelerating its expansion in the music market.

Rima Public is an AI band composed of a total of six instruments: piano, drums, percussion, marimba, guitar, and bass. The system has been built with big data of about 100,000 songs containing instrument performance information and music data. Collaborations between various genre musicians—such as K-pop, classical, traditional Korean music (Gugak), jazz, and tango—with the Rima AI band were provided free of charge to citizens through large digital signage. Furthermore, users with 5G devices could enjoy a more immersive concert by pointing their device at the signage without separate equipment, which featured augmented reality-based dancers, singers, performers, and various spectacular objects synchronized with the live performance.

◆ Successfully presented a collaboration between humans and AI
A performance ensemble featuring AI technology performing without a human musician. This is a concept of music performance different from what has existed before. CEO Rio Jang explained that it is not actually that different. He said, "Emotionwave literally means a wave of emotion. Music gives humans emotional changes in some form. Recently, due to COVID-19, people mainly enjoyed online concerts, but I think the feeling received will be different from seeing it with one's own eyes. Therefore, the RIMA extended reality concert, where citizens can directly see and experience technology and art in an open space, has great significance."
◆ Based on technology,non-face-to-faceeducationplatform as well.Development
For Emotionwave, which has this kind of direction, a concert is just one example of moving emotions. Since 2012, Emotionwave has researched and developed core technologies and content that apply mixed reality performance technology to web environments, broadcasting, and performances, achieving various patents and international standards. In 2017, they successfully developed and commercialized six types of AI autonomous performance robots and RIMA, and early this year, they successfully showcased their products at the CES 2020 exhibition. "A concert is just one example of enjoying music. Emotionwave provides various services for people who want to enjoy and learn about music," said CEO Jang.

As a prime example, in September this year, Emotionwave launched 'MuLearn,' a non-face-to-face music education platform. MuLearn is a non-face-to-face Telepresence educational platform developed for both learners and educators who experienced difficulties in online public education music classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, intensively strengthening appreciation, performance, and singing functions. The feature is that learners and educators can receive two-way performances and exchange feedback through their personal PCs with a VR headset and an artificial intelligence instrument.
Similarly, adults can also receive music lessons using the same technology; in fact, Emotionwave's site has various genres of courses available, such as vocal training and Korean traditional music (Gugak).
◆ So that people can enjoy music more comfortably and easily,
"I personally studied music. I graduated with a major in composition. I believe that music is both content and a medium that can move emotions. Emotionwave will do its best so that more people can learn and enjoy music easily," said CEO Jang. In fact, Emotionwave is preparing something else. They are developing practice room functions and community functions based on a digital platform. He added, "The practice room function is a system where AI provides accompaniment, and if I play incorrectly, it corrects me. It allows one to learn any desired instrument and learn songs or dances of any desired genre anytime, anywhere. And we are also creating a community function so that people with similar interests can gather and even perform together."
