"We are in the Spring and Autumn Period of the Metaverse. Currently, the metaverse is a virtual space emphasizing communication and connection, where various forms of attempts are being made. Among these, Emotionwave aims to create a world where anyone can create and operate as an AI musician, or what's called a 'sub-character,' by integrating music with Artificial Intelligence (AI) humans." At the meeting on the 9th at Emotionwave headquarters in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, CEO Jang Soon-chul introduced the new metaverse society that will be born from the convergence of art and technology.

Emotionwave, which launched as a digital music solution company in 2013, is currently transforming into an agency for AI musicians. In broad terms, this involves creating AI humans for personal or corporate avatars, and providing comprehensive services that include AI composition support and distribution of completed songs. Unlike existing metaverses that only feature 3D avatars, the goal is to realize a new metaverse that connects reality, virtual space, and the music market through AI humans and music.
Emotionwave realizes this with its self-developed digital agency platform, 'AIMPLE'. CEO Jang explained, "The characteristic of an AIMPLE-based AI human is that it can apply the customer's genetic elements through AI," adding that "we can expect not only the appearance but also the musical growth of the avatar, which resembles the user's emotions during the repetitive composition process."
The actual process of creating and composing for an AI human happens organically within a trio collaboration between the user, Emotionwave, and the AI. The first step is 'visualization.' The appearance of the AI human is modeled using a 3D engine based on the customer's photos or requirements. Next, a genre is selected. Various options are available, including the most common 'New Age,' as well as hip-hop, jazz, rock, and more.

The composition follows an AI creation process. If a customer requests a specific piece of music based on a certain story or reason, the AI engine generates the song reflecting this. The customer can listen to it and request melodies or arrangements according to their intentions, and finally, a single song is born through the professional music team at Emotionwave. The completed song can also be distributed on actual music platforms like VIVE or FLO under the name of the customer's avatar.
Going a step further, the background for holding offline concerts with avatars lies in 'RIMA,' an AI performance band developed by Emotionwave. This is a solution designed to attach performance modules to real instruments so that the instruments can play predetermined sheet music on their own. According to Emotionwave, because RIMA utilizes actual instruments, it can achieve rich overtones and spatial acoustics more than 20 times greater than digital sound. Emotionwave gained attention at a recent event in May for demonstrating AI human Hanul and a piano piece composed by him using RIMA.

Thus, while the user's avatar exists as an artist representing the user in the digital space, it can serve as a channel through which they coexist with their real-life 'self' through music distribution or performances, revealing their identity as a musician. The ultimate goal of the metaverse envisioned by Emotionwave is a world where these AI humans gather to pioneer new genres of music and enjoy their own musical culture, connecting both online and offline.
CEO Jang predicted that companies wanting special marketing or composers who find external activities burdensome will look to AIMPLE. He said, "Companies usually purchase the value of celebrities temporarily for use in advertising, but the strength of digital artists is that they are low-cost and permanent," adding that "demand is expected for musician production and management optimized for corporate brands and marketing points." He also added, "Composers who do not want to reveal themselves externally will also have opportunities to engage in new forms of creation and musician activities by putting forward an AI human."
Economic benefits can also follow through music activities within the metaverse. Individually assigned to AIMPLE-based AI humans and their music are NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) based on blockchain. An NFT is a type of digital certificate issued on a blockchain network that cannot be tampered with or forged. Since an NFT structurally cannot have identical instances and ownership is transparently recorded, it is widely used recently as proof of ownership for digital content. Furthermore, transactions are possible, allowing for investment profits according to the content's value.

CEO Jang highly evaluated the growth potential of the metaverse market. Although the current metaverse market is going through a transitional period, large-scale investments from companies continue, and unlike virtual reality (VR), which is often compared, metaverse services have low restrictions on user devices, making them highly accessible. Furthermore, society as a whole is becoming more accepting of digital changes such as non-face-to-face interactions and the metaverse. He predicted, "Considering these points, the metaverse market will face greater changes than now for at least the next two years."
Meanwhile, Emotionwave is also preparing for its 'next step'. CEO Jang stated, "Our strength is the ability to naturally fuse music with various unrelated industries better than any other company," and expressed his ambition, saying that "we will work hard so that Emotionwave can be a partner in creating an unprecedented new world."
