Recently, IT technology, which is considered a core technology in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, has been applied to areas encompassing the entire performance spectrum.
The professional arts group 'Emotionwave Arts,' which is creating innovative attempts and cases with content that fuses art and technology, collaborated with its parent company, Emotionwave Co., Ltd., on November 4th and 5thpresented a concert that fused artificial intelligence performance technology, robotics instrument module technology, and mobile linkage technology at Stage66 in the Content Demonstration Hall for two days.

This 'Artificial Intelligence Media Performance <Visual Mechatronica>' is a follow-up work to 'Jazz Mechatronica,' which was performed four times in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province in 2017, and showcases an 'AutoPlay Band' featuring artificial intelligence drums, marimba, guitar, percussion, and artificial intelligence voice.
Furthermore, the affiliated artist group 'Offenheit' participated to create a new concept of crossover concert applying artificial intelligence and robotics technology to existing media music concerts, maximizing the emotion through the fusion of AutoPlay technology, which boasts exquisite performance, and the beauty of video media.
What was particularly emphasized in this work is a performance technique that has become even closer to human. The melodies of the more delicate artificial intelligence guitar, the sensual rhythms created by the artificial intelligence drums, and the interaction techniques linked with video media were naturally unfolded.
Through exquisite matching directly connected to the visuals in AutoPlay Band's performance, it breathed new life into the ephemeral music stage.
Rio Jang, who produced the artificial intelligence media performance <Visual Mechatronica> and leads the media performance group 'Offenheit,' said, "In order to create new art and music in the future, artists must also contemplate and grow along with advancing technology."
Emotionwave Arts, which is creating innovative genres and content, expressed its hope that after this work, it will continue to encounter new genres through the fusion of advanced technology and art, as well as through the development of future services.
