Emotionwave (CEO Rio Jang) will present a robot singing room equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and robotics technology in the existing karaoke environment for the first time in the second half of this year.
Unlike previously singing along to background music played through speakers, which was based on MIDI sound sources, you can now experience maximized acoustic feeling as a small AI performance robot plays actual instruments through techniques learned by recognizing existing music. Furthermore, it is possible to view lyrics and sheet music through a 360-degree display expressed as extended reality (eXtended Reality), and even have live collaborations with customers connected online.
The biggest advantage of the robot singing room is the richness and excellence of content created with AI music technology. The deep learning performance engine has learned playing techniques based on hundreds of thousands of overseas songs, allowing the robot to play most domestic popular songs by performing actual instruments.
The artificial intelligence robot music technology that Emotionwave successfully developed independently in 2017 was recognized through various performances, including overseas performances with musician Kirara at SXSW in Texas, USA, in 2019, and at the Korea Content Promotion Institute, Pangyo ICT Convergence Culture Center, Changwon City, Siheung City, etc., showcasing genres such as K-POP, Jazz, Classical, and Electronic music during the 2019 Intel Technology Open House (Constred Hotel, Yeouido) and other events.
Park Seong-hyun, team leader of Emotionwave's Strategic Planning Team, said, "Artificial intelligence music technology has been utilized as a tool for performances, providing not only musical accompaniment but also visual effects. However, the era when the public can directly enjoy music using robots and artificial intelligence technology will soon arrive."
Meanwhile, Emotionwave attracted significant interest from many overseas music industry professionals by showcasing an unmanned music performance system at 'CES 2020' in Las Vegas, USA, last January. This system could recognize nearly all music and instantly play or perform expert-level performances with approximately 36,000 songs. As a result of this achievement focused on global service launch, they plan to expand into locations such as Texas, USA, Hanoi, Vietnam, and Japan in January 2021, along with the launch of a robot karaoke system.
