With the emergence of non-face-to-face performance venues that fuse technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, and Extended Reality (XR) centered on the Internet of Things (IoT), it is leading the digital transformation of the entertainment and cultural industries after COVID-19 and establishing itself as a new culture technology service.
Emotionwave (CEO Jang Soon-chul), a specialized company in artificial intelligence music performance robots, was finally selected for 'AIoT Art Theater, K-DIGITAL STAGE' in the 2021 Intelligent IoT Application Diffusion Project, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Im Hye-sook) and managed by NIPA (Director Kim Chang-yong).
As part of the Digital New Deal, this project aims to create tangible results for the public and discover leading service models. Emotionwave will receive 1.8 billion KRW in support funds for a new culture technology service where artificial intelligence selects music based on user preferences, and robot-engineering IoT devices directly perform the music using piano, drums, guitar, bass, etc.

As a venture company established in 2013 to innovate industries by fusing technology and art, Emotionwave has applied its artificial intelligence music technology platform, 'RIMA (Robotic-Instruments Music for All),' which it successfully developed in 2017, to various real-life industries such as education, culture, leisure, and tourism.
This project plans to be carried out by establishing a cooperative system with public institutions such as Kyungin Broadcasting, Incheon Yeonsu-gu Office, and Hwaseong Cultural Foundation, as well as broadcasting and media companies, while also forming a consortium with companies like Waycees, ARLook, and Harbor Intelligence.
Emotionwave held a meeting last month for the successful promotion of its business application and expansion by building and applying an 'AIoT Robotic Instrument and 8K Ultra-realistic Media Non-contact Walkthrough Type Concert Hall,' and has officially commenced the project.
The non-contact concert hall, K-Digital Stage, composed of a smart music intelligence system, is a new concept performance venue that comprehensively integrates AI and IoT with 5G networks, XR technology, AI music technology, and performance robotics technology. It is a system where existing artists' performances or music can be digitized, allowing the audience to enjoy performances and music by summoning actual artists using their own smart devices.

It is expected that 'K-DIGITAL STAGE' will be able to significantly alleviate regional, class, and income disparities across all industries, including media, entertainment, and arts and culture, which have been stagnant due to COVID-19 and the Delta variant.
The smart music intelligence non-contact art theater, K-Digital Stage (K-DIGITAL STAGE), provides highly immersive performances and music performances that feel as if people are present even when there are no people in the actual offline venue. This is based on big data of over 50,000 songs containing basic music information and instrument performance information, combined with robotics actuators that play actual instruments in place of people, and singers and dancers appearing in mixed reality spaces.
In other words, it allows people to enjoy realistic arts and culture through their own smart devices or VR/AR glasses at an offline venue by utilizing AIoT technology and immersive media technology.
Emotionwave's CEO Jang Soon-chul said, "We hope that K-DIGITAL STAGE can become a platform that improves not only the offline spaces difficult due to COVID-19 but also the retail industry, culture, and entertainment industries." He added, "We plan to provide performance consulting services that cover production, distribution, revenue, and marketing."
Furthermore, CEO Jang revealed the future AIoT business promotion roadmap, stating that ultimately they plan to implement a home Music IoT service so that many people can efficiently use music and performance content through entry into the smart home market.
