AI music tech company Emotionwave is teaming up with global robotics company MagicLab to tackle the next-generation performance and content market by combining artificial intelligence music and humanoid robots.
Emotionwave announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MagicLab to promote global business cooperation based on AI music and robotics technology. According to the MOU details disclosed by Emotionwave, the two companies plan to expand their scope of cooperation from joint research to overseas exhibitions and technology demonstrations, pilot projects, and global business development.
The core of this collaboration is the combination of 'Music AI' and 'Embodied AI'. It involves integrating MagicLab's humanoid robot platform and embodied intelligence technology with Emotionwave's proprietary AI music generation technology, robotic instrument platform 'RIMA', and digital performance technology.
Through this, the plan is to go beyond performances where robots simply repeat predetermined movements, developing intelligent robot performances and immersive interactive experiences that react to music, the surrounding environment, and human behavior.
MagicLab is a robotics company that develops general-purpose humanoid and quadruped robots. The company is promoting the commercialization of robots in various fields such as manufacturing and logistics, security, service, entertainment, and education, based on its own physical AI technology and modular hardware/software system.
Emotionwave has continuously invested in the combination of music and robotics. Its representative technology, RIMA, is a system that plays actual instruments using AI and robotics technology, and it has been expanded into robot performances utilizing various instruments such as piano, drums, guitar, bass, marimba, and percussion.
Through this agreement, we will also promote technical connections between RIMA and humanoid robots. The two companies plan to jointly explore areas such as AI-based robot performance systems, integrated control of humanoids and robotic instruments, interaction between robots and humans, and cultural robotics content utilizing creative AI.
The application stages are not limited to concert halls. They plan to develop intelligent robot solutions that can interact with the audience in exhibitions, cultural contents, commercial spaces, etc., thereby pioneering a new form of entertainment and experience market.
In particular, Emotionwave connects this cooperation with its global business expansion strategy. It plans to materialize a new business model connecting the technology built around the AI music platform ‘MUTA’ and the robotic instrument ‘RIMA’ with overseas humanoid robot ecosystems, leading to 'AI Music - Robot Performance - Immersive Content'.
