The experimental stage of integrating ICT and culture concluded with successful results.
The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) (Director Kim Chang-yong) and the Smart Technology Promotion Association (Chairman Kim Seon-jung) held the 'ICT-Culture Convergence Lab Open Living Lab Day' on the 12th at the Second Pangyo Techno Valley in Seongnam.
This event is a place to present and conclude the challenges of the nine teams that participated in the Culture Convergence Lab over the past four months since the launch ceremony last September.
This convergence lab was divided into several areas: the 'Convergence Talent Nurturing Field Practice Lab,' which is a program for nurturing talent integrated across various fields such as ICT and culture/arts; the 'Creation, Production, and Collaboration Project Lab,' where collaborative projects are conducted by fusing cultural arts content with new technologies like 5G and AI; and the 'New Technology Convergence Research Project' (such as 5G), which explores the feasibility of applying ICT new technologies to various fields, including culture and arts.
Through this, ▲Korea National University of Arts Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Art Convergence Talent Cultivation) ▲Techno Design Graduate School Culture Design Lab (Techno Design Graduate School Creative Convergence Studio) ▲Meris Lab Co., Ltd. (ICT STEAM Convergence Education Program Development) ▲Emotionwave Co., Ltd. (New Player - JM Band) ▲Future Science Tech Co., Ltd. (Comic automatic cut separation technology used for storybook video service) ▲Lee Seul-gil of the Performing Arts Creation Research Institute (ICT-Convergence Image Play - Diary of Presentation) ▲Will U Entertainment (Converged content where robots and media can be directly worn by dancers) ▲Yeomcheon Bridge Revitalization Project Seoul Station Shoe Social Cooperative (Healthy Feet Exciting Shoe Project) ▲Korea National University Startup Support Center (ICT-Culture Convergence Pilot Technology Development Project), etc., were able to carry out new attempts integrating ICT and culture, receiving activity support funds of 10 million to 30 million KRW and venues.
The event featured a collaboration between Emotionwave's robot band and popera singers, a sports dance demonstration prepared by the Yeomcheon Bridge Cooperative, and a robot convergence performance by Will U Entertainment, attracting much attention.
Kim Chang-yong, Director of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), said, “Science and technology culture, including ICT, have always developed through communication and convergence.” He added, “We hope that you will continue to make efforts to develop various ideas and creative works and achieve commercialization results, and we will not spare our support.”
