Jeong Hyun-joo of Dankook University GTEP Project Group (Project Director Professor Jung Yoon-se of the Department of Trade) announced that she participated in the MWC 2024 exhibition at Barcelona, Spain, which was held for four days from February 26th to 29th, 2024, and provided overseas marketing support activities for 'Emotionwave,' a small and medium-sized enterprise located in Yongin.
The MWC Barcelona exhibition is the world's largest mobile communication exhibition with participants from approximately 200 countries. Yongin Special City opened a dedicated pavilion to support the opening of overseas sales channels for Yongin companies, and during this process, Dankook University youth trade personnel from Yongin also participated as export interns.
'Emotionwave' is an AI and metaverse-based music platform company established in 2013. It has its headquarters in Yongin Special City, and its research institute is located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The company pursues the slogan of combining music and technology with a dream of a world where everyone can easily access music.
The products that were featured prominently at this exhibition were RIMA and AIMPLE Studio. RIMA is an automatic musical instrument played through AI-based IOT technology without a performer. AIMPLE Studio is a digital human platform based on generative AI that supports anyone in becoming a digital human.
Through this exhibition, Emotionwave's RIMA automatic playing drum not only appeared in the main promotional video of the MWC organizers but also gained great popularity by being uploaded to the Instagram and official promotional videos highlights of 4YFN, the organizer of the startup special pavilion.
In particular, we conducted interviews with broadcasting stations from Japan, Spain, and Chile, in addition to AP News. As a result of overseas marketing, we signed MOUs with three Spanish companies and discussed future export plans, as well as leading several on-site meetings.
Roberto, the CEO of an art management platform company who visited Emotionwave's booth, highly praised it, saying, "This is the most interesting booth I have seen at this exhibition. It is a booth I want to see in the main hall of the exhibition," expressing high expectations for overseas expansion possibilities.
Rio Jang, CEO of Emotionwave, expressed his satisfaction, stating, "We had many consultations with active European buyers at this exhibition, so we anticipate export results," and added, "In particular, we were able to achieve great results with the support of young trade professionals from Dankook University."
Jeong Hyun-joo (4th year, Department of Trade) who participated in this exhibition was responsible for promotional marketing, interpretation, and export consultation support at the exhibition. In particular, she promoted Emotionwave's booth by regularly demonstrating the RIMA drum, drawing interest from buyers.
Furthermore, we continued to promote Emotionwave's overall services by showing an interaction demonstration of AIMPLE Studio to buyers who showed interest in the RIMA drum performance.
Jeong Hyun-joo stated, "I am happy that through this exhibition, we could introduce Korea's competitive and interesting AI metaverse technology to the European market. I hope that Korean companies will receive more attention from around the world through this opportunity."
Dankook University GTEP (Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Training Program) conducts education on trade practical knowledge, e-commerce, overseas marketing, and export buyer sales at the field level for university students nationwide. Through the GTEP program, participants undergo basic and advanced training and field practice processes totaling over 720 hours over 15 months. The GTEP program is implemented at 20 universities nationwide.
The Dankook University GTEP Program has supported domestic exhibitions by being appointed as 'Export Interns' with Yongin City since 2023, and in 2024, it expanded its business overseas. The Export Intern Support Project is a pledge project from the 8th civilian administration, designed to help solve employment shortages faced by small and medium-sized enterprises and allow young trade professionals to build experience.
Accordingly, graduates of Dankook University's trade talent will participate as interns in the overseas market development activities of small and medium-sized enterprises within Yongin City, taking charge of product promotion, buyer reception, etc. Furthermore, they are planning to participate in the Thailand Bangkok Food Fair (THAIFEX) and plan to actively support the overseas expansion of Yongin City's SMEs.
