The global AI conference, 'AICON (artificial intelligence congress) Gwangju 2021,' where you can meet world-class artificial intelligence (AI) experts in one place, will be held for the first time in Gwangju on the 16th. The Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Business Unit announced on the 9th that it will host the 'AICON Gwangju 2021' conference at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center from the 16th to the 18th.
This conference, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Gwangju City, and organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), is designed to track AI technology trends and present directions for the role of artificial intelligence in industrial convergence processes. The theme of the conference is 'AI of the World, Shining Here.'

◆ Lectures from 30+ Experts in AI from 7 Countries Invited
Over the three days of the conference, various lectures are scheduled to be presented by about 30 speakers from 7 countries. On the 16th, keynote speeches will include 'Where Will Future AI Technology Go?' by Vijay Janapa Reddi, a professor at Harvard University's Edge Computer Research Institute, and 'Digital Transformation and Smart Working' by Tae-won Kim, Executive Director of Google Korea Global Biz Team.
Professor Vijay Janapa Reddi is currently serving as the director of the Edge Computing Lab established within Harvard. He has conducted research on computer architecture and system software design for mobile computing and machine automation. He has also provided consulting services to global companies such as Facebook and Intel.

On the 17th, presentation sessions will be held across three areas: AI Business Track, AI Cluster Forum, and AI Tech. The AI Business Track will cover three topics: 'AI Beyond the Valley of Disillusionment,' 'Driving Change in the AI Industry,' and 'AI Strategy for Business Leaders.'
The AI Cluster Forum will focus on two themes: 'Ways to Develop AI Clusters Amidst Corona' and 'The Role of Gwangju as an AI Hub City in the Era of With-Corona.' The AI-Tech section will proceed with four separate topics: 'Steps Towards AI Superintelligence,' 'Digital Healthcare with AI,' 'Quantum Leap in the Mobility Industry,' and 'AI, A New Model for Sustainable Cities.'

The lecture features prominent speakers from various fields. Dennis Hong, Director of the Robotics Mechanism Laboratory, has researched autonomous systems, humanoid robots, kinematics, robot mechanical engineering design, and robot motion mechanics as the director of 'RoMeLa' at UCLA, a global hub for robotics research.
Hunter Kim, Director of Florida Osceola County, is currently undertaking the creation of 'Neo City,' a future-oriented planned city promoted by Osceola County based on technological innovation cooperation. Neo City is a strategic smart city where NASA, Space X, Amazon's Blue Origin, ports, airports, and railways are gathered in one place.
John B Rogers is the CEO and co-founder of Local Motors, a company that designs, manufactures, and sells autonomous buses equipped with AI systems. Local Motors launched the world's first 3D printed car in September 2014, moving away from mass production to individually customized vehicle manufacturing for customers.
Shana Downs is a director at May Mobility, an autonomous driving technology development company that focuses on city planning through self-driving technology. May Mobility developed autonomous shuttles equipped with a series of redundant sensor technologies combining LiDAR, radar, and cameras, developing technology that can check the area around the shuttle in real-time from 360 degrees.

At the exhibition hall experience booths from the 16th to the 18th, activities such as a metaverse cinema, unmanned robot stores, future robot experiences, My Benefit, Perfect Musician, AR idol dance experience, human vs AI quiz showdowns, and special AI lectures will be held.
The Metaverse Cinema is a VR experience where you can vividly enjoy scenes that are not visible in the movie screen within a metaverse environment. At the unmanned robot store, you can enjoy coffee made by an AI barista. 'My Benefit' is an app that automatically manages physical fitness analysis and exercise data.'Perfect Musician' is an immersive game that plays background music for games using actual instruments based on the music technology 'RIMA.'

Additionally, business meetings such as buyer consultation sessions and job counseling sessions are possible in the business room.
