The sound of the drum kit echoes in a large room. The timing is good, and it seems like a professional playing at the level of Keith Moon or John Bonham, but when you get close, there is no one holding the sticks. You realize that. This is another example of artificial intelligenceexpelling humans to maintain speed itself.
Not only with a drum set, but also with a piano,it is an AI system that can play any song in real time.RIMA is a project presented by Emotionwave, a Korean company specializing in the development of audio and music technology based on artificial intelligence, at this year's Mobile World Congress.

No sheet music

According to the website, RIMA is the world's first artificial intelligence system that can autonomously play drums and piano .

The process is simple. Users simply need to select a song of any genre from streaming platforms such as Spotify or YouTube, or from their own devices. RIMA analyzes the song and uses drums and piano according to the rhythm, melody, and style of the song tocreate original performances.

It is unique and interactive.

As a result, a unique and interactive music experience that can be enjoyed both live and online has been born.RIMA has a physical version consisting of real drums and pianos controlled by artificial intelligence, and a virtual version accessible through a mobile app or web browser.
This system can not only play existing songs but alsocreate one's own original compositions according to the user's taste and preference.Furthermore, RIMA can interact with other human or artificial musicians to create musical synergy among them.

What is the goal?

According to the creators, their goal isto democratize access to musicand provide a new way to enjoy music without the constraints of time, space, or ability. Similarly, we hope that RIMA can inspire the new generation of musicians and fans, and contribute to the development of the music industry.

For more details on the system, you can check our website or YouTube channeland watch videos of its performance and making process. RIMA is a drummer (and pianist) that plays songs you want to hear without any musicians, and its music will let you feel unique emotions.
